Sofía's First Time Fishing
About five years ago I took Valeria fishing for the first time, and by now she has learned enough to recognize a few species, some lures, and the things you have to watch out for. But this time it was Sofía’s turn — she had spent months asking to come along with us, and that day finally came. We headed back to Alcaravanes, where we know she has a better shot at catching something, and where there is plenty else to do once the patience every angler needs runs out on her.
After a few tries, with a live worm rigged on her little fishing rod, Sofía was the first one to land a catch — which pulled a huge smile and tears of joy out of her little sister.
At the end I had a go at a bass on a lure, though it gets tricky with so many other visitors’ lines in the water.
